Founded in by a group of Los Angeles-based children's writers, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is a non-profit, (c)3 organization which is one of the largest existing organizations for writers and illustrators. It is the only professional organization specifically for those individuals writing and illustrating for children and young adults in the fields of children’s literature. The Society of Children’s Book Writers & IllustratorsCentral-Coastal California Region provides programs and services for Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Kern counties.

We are a warm and welcoming group focused on craft and professional support. Our Children’s Writers and Illustrators Group (CWIG) is a professional community of writers and illustrators who create content for the children’s publishing market.
